VISITING A PATIENT

SampsonRMC recognizes the importance of having family support during times of healing and encourages loved ones to visit. Our visitation guidelines promote loved ones to be a part of the healing process while still allowing for patient privacy and rest for healing. 


GUIDELINES FOR VISITATION IN PATIENT CARE AREAS

MODIFIED VISITOR POLICY

To protect the health and safety of our patients, staff and visitors, SampsonRMC is operating under a modified visitor policy until further notice.


VISITOR GUIDELINES

  • Effective Wednesday, May 1, 2024, SampsonRMC visitor guidelines have been updated to the following:
    • Visiting hours are 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
    • Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult other than the patient.
    • One (1) overnight visitor is allowed. 
    • Visitor masks are available but not required in patient care areas.
    • Visitors experiencing cold-like symptoms, such as fever, runny nose, cough or shortness of breath should not visit until symptom-free for at least 24 hours.
    • Visitors who are COVID-positive, even if asymptomatic are not permitted to visit until 10 days have passed since onset of symptoms, or positive test result.

LABOR & DELIVERY 

Patients may have two support persons during labor. Post-partum patients may have up to four (4) visitors at any time during routine visiting hours. One adult visitor may stay overnight. Sibling visits may be coordinated with the healthcare team.


EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT 

Patients may have two (2) visitors for the duration of the patient's Emergency Room stay. Visitors may rotate in and out as reasonable based on patient condition.


SURGICAL SERVICES

Two (2) support persons may accompany the patient to the preoperative area.


Medical-Surgical 

Patients may have up to four (4) visitors during visiting hours. Visitors may rotate in and out as needed during visiting hours.


ICU

Patients may have up to two (2) visitors at any time during visiting hours. Visitors may rotate in and out as reasonable based on patient condition during visiting hours. Visitors must be 12 years of age or older.


VISITOR POLICY EXCEPTIONS: SUSPECTED AND POSITIVE COVID-19 PATIENTS 

Visitors may visit a patient with known or suspected COVID-19 if the following conditions are met:

  • Visitors must be 18 years of age or older 
  • Visitors must sign a waiver indicating they understand the risk of becoming infected with COVID-19.
  • The visitor must wear a surgical mask while in the patient’s room 
  • Two (2) visitors will be allowed to visit per day 
  • One (1) overnight visitor is allowed
  • Exceptions may be made for end-of-life patients
